Batteroo Features
The Batteroo is a finely tuned, sophisticated piece of technology made for the purposes of allowing us to get the most use out of our batteries. The big reason batteries stop working even though they still have charge left has to do with the voltage. The voltage of a battery starts decreasing as soon as the device the battery is installed in starts extracting energy from it in order to function. In cases like active load devices, like digital cameras, once the voltage drops below a certain level the device turns off because it assumes the battery has been depleted. In those cases, the battery usually has just been weakened and still has energy left, but is unable to meet the output voltage that is required for the device to believe the battery is still usable.
The Batteroo Boost is a regulator, that is able to step up the current from the battery to above the cut-off voltage so the device will be able to use the battery until it is truly depleted and thus tapping into life that would have gone unused if the battery was thrown away as per usual. The Batteroo Boost’s regulator uses a high efficiency, fixed interleaved frequency of 1.4MHz, current mode PWN boost DC/DC converter which can operate from most single-cell batteries that have an input voltage below 0.6V. The converter output voltage is adjusted from 1.5V to 1.32V from VIN at 1.5V to .80V. No external Schottky diode is required and the converter can achieve an efficiency of roughly 95%. The converter switches automatically into burst mode at light load with quiescent current on only 15uA. When Batteroo Boost’s converter operates in discontinuous mode, the internal anti-ringing switch could reduce interference and radiated electromagnetic energy.
With the Batteroo Boost’s ability to step up the current of the batteries its attached to will drastically reduce the number of batteries needed for any device, since we will be able to get a great deal more use out of the batteries we are currently using.
